Kit car cover - Tailored cover to suit your car

As your kit car is tailored to your liking it is essential that you tailor your kit car cover to suit your needs. Kit car parts can be expensive and the amount of parts you add onto your car could mean that you spend many thousands of pounds on building your unique pride and joy. Therefore you need to read the small print of any policy you are considering taking out to ensure that it would be suitable for your needs.

Due to kit cars being so unique there is no set amount that the car would cost to replace if the worst should happen and it was damaged beyond repair. Therefore you would want to ensure that you had agreed values for your kit car. Agreed values means that you have your car valued based on the costs of the parts you have installed on your car. This sum of money is what you car would cost to totally replace and is the amount the insurance company would pay you if the worst case scenario were to happen and your car was written off. Without agreed values the insurance you could lose out on a great deal of money.

While no one likes to think of the worst happening and losing the pride and joy that they took great pains on putting together, it can happen and should be given some thought. If your car is written off and you have salvage retention rights then you might be able to at least claim back some of the expensive parts that have survived the accident. However salvage retention rights would be at the discretion of the insurance provider. If they think that your car is too badly damaged then you would not be able to claim.

When considering kit car cover you not only want insurance for your car when it has been built. You also want to ensure that you are covered and could make a claim on your policy from the very first part that you order. Parts can be very expensive and if they should get lost on their way to you then of course you could lose out on a great deal of money. Therefore you need a policy that would insure your parts from the moment you order them, while they are stored in your garage and of course on your car as you are building it up. Generally a policy would payout for such as damage caused by fire, theft or vandalism.

Parts only insurance is one feature that many kit car owners look for in their kit car cover, this means that the owner of the car could claim on the policy in the event of an accident just for the parts. This is chosen by owners who do want to have someone else working on their car. The insurance policy would pay for the cost of replacements parts and then you would be able to put them on your car yourself.
